Boston boys are back! The Rip, directed by Joe Carnahan, dropped on Netflix January 16, 2026, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as cops entangled in a heist gone wrong. With a 113-minute runtime, it’s a potboiler with action and drama. Let’s rip into it.

Plot: A drug bust uncovers millions, testing loyalties among friends. Affleck and Damon lead, with Steven Yeun and others adding depth.

Rotten Tomatoes: 79% from 146 reviews, praising the chemistry and confidence.  IMDb 6.8/10 from 111K.  Roger Ebert: 3 stars for psychological thrills over action.  Decider called it generic but watchable.  Reddit users slammed exposition but loved the cast.  Trailer fans wished for theaters.  Metacritic: 63/100.

Analysis: Strong first hour, but third act falters. Great for fans of duo’s dynamic, but predictable. Stream-worthy Netflix fare.
