The Big Picture
Captain America: Brave New World’s first teaser features Sam Wilson and Thunderbolt Ross at odds.
Identity concerns are explored throughout the movie, with Ross asserting that Sam is not Steve Rogers.
The film connects to earlier characters in the story and introduces a new enemy, acting as a spiritual sequel to The Incredible Hulk.
With the release of the much-awaited first teaser for Captain America: Brave New World, Marvel Studios appears to be preparing Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and his friends for a very big, red, and Hulkish issue. The teaser places Sam Wilson squarely in opposition to Thunderbolt Ross (Harrison Ford), who seeks to reinstate Captain America as an official military post, akin to that of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) during World War II and John Walker (Wyatt Russell) in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Additionally, we witness Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) try to eliminate Ross. Additionally, it appears that the movie will address identity difficulties once more. According to Ross, Sam might be Captain America, but He’s not Steve Rogers at all. And at the very end of the trailer, we witness an extremely enraged Hulk tossing the famous Red, White, and Blue shield into the ground. This scene showcases Giancarlo Esposito’s new villainous, gun-toting addition to the film. Fans of the MCU should be thrilled about this as it appears from the teaser that Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross will be portrayed as a significant foe in the series moving ahead.
Under the close supervision of Julius Onah, Anthony Mackie plays Captain America in his first solo role as a leading man. Harrison Ford replaces the late William Hurt as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the movie. That being said, there were undoubtedly issues with the film’s production. Before being retitled Brave New World, the movie was first known as New World Order. During reshoots, the plot underwent considerable modifications.
With whom is “Brave New World” filled?
The latest filming of new material revolved around Esposito’s appearance as an unidentified character. The trailer makes it clear that the renownedly charismatic actor is playing one of the movie’s antagonists, but it’s unclear how he will fit into the story—especially since the Leader seems to already be playing the main enemy. Along with Thunderbolt Ross and Nelson, the film also stars Liv Tyler as Bruce Banner’s (Edward Norton/Mark Ruffalo) old flame, Betty Ross, making it obvious that it is a spiritual sequel to The Incredible Hulk. Xosha Roquemore, Danny Ramirez, and Shira Haas are among the other cast members. Disney and Marvel have determined that, since reshoots have just concluded, this is the moment to release the brand-new Star Spangled Man with a Plan’s first trailer.
Watch the trailer up above. On February 14, 2025, Captain America: Brave New World is scheduled to release in theaters. Check back with Collider for additional movie developments.
