Chris Pratt discusses if he will return to the MCU as Star-Lord and his potential future in James Gunn’s DCU.
Chris Pratt, actor of Guardians of the Galaxy, says there’s a 100% possibility he’ll play Starlord/Peter Quill again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also says he’s assured a part in James Gunn’s rebooted DCU.
Speculation regarding Pratt’s potential entry into this new property has surfaced, given that Guardians writer-director James Gunn currently has a prominent position at DC Studios. Pratt expressed openness to participating in both superhero realms during an interview with ComicBook.com to promote The Garfield Movie, implying that any scenario is possible.
“Well, I think it makes more sense for me to play Star-Lord again,” said Pratt. But since James is now associated with DC, everything is up for discussion. There might be a suitable opportunity there. or perhaps both. How come not both? Let’s investigate both options. There’s a good 100% probability for both, in my opinion.
Is Chris Pratt Going to Play a Part in the DCU?
Though no casting choices have been made officially, James Gunn has alluded to the possibility that a number of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast members may take on new roles as superheroes or villains in the rebooted DC Universe. A popular fan idea has Pratt as Booster Gold, who is supposed to be the star of his own special Max series. Pratt addressed this issue in a 2023 Rolling Stone interview, saying he would be open to the idea given the right conditions. Pratt said, “If James believes I’m the right fit, then naturally, I’d have to contemplate it.” Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy, disclosed to Variety that he had talked with James Gunn about possible parts in DC’s upcoming film trilogy. Klementieff said, “We’re setting out some plans, but I won’t give anything away just yet. Conversations have taken place. Nothing is set in stone, though. I have a certain character in mind, but I swear to keep it a secret. I was familiar with the persona, and I thought they were fascinating.”
The Garfield Movie, starring Chris Pratt and David Reynolds (Finding Nemo), is being directed by Mark Dindal (The Emperor’s New Groove) and written by Paul A. Kaplan & Mark Torgove (Raising Hope). The Garfield Movie boasts a stellar voice ensemble that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang in addition to Chris Pratt as the title talking cat.
On May 24, 2024, The Garfield Movie is slated to open at theatres across the country.
