OVERVIEW
Alyn and Addam of Hull are important figures in the House of the Dragon’s conflict, and their true parentage is still a mystery.
The second season of House of the Dragon features new characters who complicate the tensions between the Targaryen, Velaryon, and Hightower households.
Alyn succeeds Corlys Velaryon as a dragonrider, and Addam becomes a dragonrider as well, bringing considerable changes to the ongoing conflict.
In the second episode of House of the Dragon, Alyn of Hull makes her debut. The seaman, together with his brother Addam, play significant roles in the history of Westeros and the impending conflict. near “A Son for a Son,” Lord Corlys Velaryon visits his ship and meets Alyn, whom he thanks for saving his life, as near the conclusion of House of the Dragon season 1, Corlys was on the verge of death following a fight in the Stepstones. The truth about Corlys’ relationship with the brothers is still unknown, although in the season 2 opener, Alyn’s subtle mention of his brother Addam causes some stress.
Many new people are being added to further complicate the disputes between the Targaryen, Velaryon, and Hightower families as House of the Dragon season 2’s episodes delve deeper into the depths of the battle between the Greens and Blacks. Alyn (Abubakar Salim) and Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty) are two of the most significant new characters in House of the Dragon season 2, and their roles will only become more crucial as the horrors of war take their toll. The portrayals of Alyn and Addam in George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood book will differ slightly in HBO’s production, but their trajectories and histories are just as significant.
What Takes Place With Addam Of Hull?
Addam has a terrible demise in Fire & Blood.
Although Addam does not have a direct Targaryen parent, he will come forward to claim Seasmoke now that he is without a rider, as House of the Dragon season 1 revealed Laenor fled to Essos while faking her death in Westeros. It’s unclear how House of the Dragon will explain Addam’s ability to claim Seasmoke given Laenor is still alive and bonded with him, but rest assured that Addam will become a significant asset for Rhaenyra’s side in the war.
As Seasmoke’s rider, Fire & Blood tells that Lord Corlys requests that Addam and Alyn be recognized as real Velaryons after joining Rhaenyra’s army. With Lucerys’s passing, Rhaenyra grants Corlys’ wishes, and Addam inherits Driftmark from Corlys Velaryon. Jacaerys already holds the Iron Throne, and Joffrey holds Dragonstone. But it appears that Alyn in House of the Dragon might be older than Addam, which suggests the former would be dubbed Corlys’ heir instead.
It’s unclear how House of the Dragon will explain Addam’s ability to claim Seasmoke considering Laenor is still alive and connected with him, but rest confident that Addam will become a big asset for Rhaenyra’s side in the conflict.
Addam rides Seasmoke into numerous fights in the House of the Dragon, including as the Second Battle of Tumbleton, the Fall of King’s Landing, and the Battle of the Gullet. Addam tries to show his allegiance to the Queen by flying to the Second Battle of Tumbleton and defeating the Greens, after two other “dragonseeds” (Targaryen or Velaryon bastards who claimed dragons for Rhaenyra’s Party) betray the Queen. Sadly, Addam Velaryon loses his life in combat during the Dance of the Dragons, just like a lot of other war figures do.
During a nighttime battle at Tumbleton, Tessarion and the riderless Vermithor sadly slay Addam and Seasmoke. Although Addam was not able to survive the battle, his efforts caused the Greens’ forces to retire, which was a crucial victory for Rhaenyra’s side in the Dance of the Dragons’ conclusion. Addam died showing his loyalty, which his brother Alyn would celebrate after his death.
What Takes Place With Alyn Of Hull?
Alyn succeeds Corlys Velaryon in her role.
In House of the Dragon, Addam turns into a dragonrider, but Alyn, his brother, does not. It’s unknown if House of the Dragon would feature Alyn’s failed effort to claim the dragon Sheepstealer, leaving her scarred by his burns. This happened in the book. After Addam’s death, Alyn inherits Driftmark and works with Corlys to lead House Velaryon’s fleet. When agreements are reached following Rhaenyra Targaryen’s passing, Alyn eventually returns Aegon II Targaryen to King’s Landing.
Following the deaths of Rhaenyra and Aegon II Targaryen, Alyn besieges Dragonstone and takes it back from the men of the dead King, handing it back to Rhaenyra’s surviving son, Aegon III Targaryen, who is now the new King. According to Fire & Blood, Alyn marries Baela Targaryen shortly after Lord Corlys Velaryon passes away from old age, assuming the role of Lord of the Tides and preventing her from being forced into an unwanted political union with another person. Following the birth of a daughter by Baela and Alyn “Oakenfist,” the monarch of Driftmark inherits his father’s military and navigational prowess and is dispatched to handle rebellions, conquests, and different expeditions on behalf of the throne.
Alyn Velaryon falls in love with Priness Elaena Targaryen, the daughter of King Aegon II Targaryen, even though she is married to Baela, according to George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood book. However, it is not anticipated that the House of the Dragon timeline would advance to this point in Alyn’s life. Jon and Jeyne Waters are the names of Elaena and Alyn’s two bastard offspring; the former has had their family name altered to Longwaters, which is still in use during Game of Thrones. About 40 years after the House of the Dragon’s fight, Alyn disappears at sea and is never heard from again, leaving his future unknown.
