Take against the Sinister Six and the original Green Goblin with Spider-Goblin’s world-altering new powers.
Spider-Man is changing dramatically, and Marvel has revealed that Peter Parker is turning into “the most dangerous superhuman in the world.” That’s a bold assertion, highlighting the serious danger Peter’s dark side poses when it breaks loose on a planet home to superheroes like Venom, Thor, the Hulk, and the Scarlet Witch.
Marvel just disclosed the details of their July comic solicitations. ‘Spider-Goblin,’ a new form for Peter Parker that will transform him into a dark reflection of his archenemy, the Green Goblin, made his official appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #53, one of the most surprising revelations.

After the startling incidents of #50, PETER PARKER has undergone a transformation. He is now the world’s most dangerous superhuman, SPIDER-GOBLIN. And his disarray is HEAVY! Who will stop Norman Osborn in the interim?
The main focus of this issue of Amazing Spider-Man has been Peter’s friendship with Norman Osborn. Norman has been on a quest to atone for his transgressions as the Gold Goblin ever since the evil Sin-Eater devoured his sins. But Norman’s transgressions remain, fashioned by the spiteful Queen Goblin into a weapon. Peter appears to be completely engrossed in the goblin character, having previously been injected with Norman’s previous wickedness once.
Turning into the Spider-Goblin, Peter Parker
Marvel Comics: Spider-Man Deftly Beats the Sinister Six
While Norman Osborn was never a good person, his experiments turned him into the Green Goblin, who went on to become Peter Parker’s most vicious adversary and famously killed Gwen Stacy of Marvel’s main timeline. However, Osborn’s Goblin persona was the result of an experimental formula transforming his mind. Freed from that chemical cocktail and given a fresh start by Sin-Eater, Osborn is being eaten alive by guilt, even as he tries to fight for some sort of redemption. Sadly, his sins can’t just be ignored, and they now have the mystic power to imbue others with evil.
In Spider-Man’s metamorphosis, Queen Goblin is the most plausible suspect.
There’s Always Something New Norman Osborn Can Do to Damage Peter Parker
Old adversaries of Osborn, particularly the Queen Goblin who was changed by Sin-Eater’s deeds, are determined to see the past come to an end. She tried to force Osborn’s crimes on someone else by forging a spear out of them with Kraven’s assistance, with Spider-Man being the target for Kraven. After Spidey’s inner darkness was aroused by the spear, he made an attempt to murder Mary Jane’s new companion, Paul. Since then, Spider-Man has recovered. The origin of his Spider-Goblin persona is unknown, but it’s most likely connected to Queen Goblin’s schemes.
Marvel’s ludicrous assertion is that Peter will become “the most dangerous superhuman in the world” as a result of his change. Although Spider-Man’s current strength makes the Green Goblin’s extraordinary strength much more apparent, it’s hard to see how any physical enhancement could make this possible. The strange wording of the issue’s solicit could suggest Spider-Goblin will be able to control others, spreading his “chaos” from person to person. It’s possible that Spider-Goblin could be in possession of some sort of world-ending gadget (similar powers have been shown in other goblins before.) In the end, fans won’t really understand Spider-Goblin’s potential until Peter Parker’s Spider-Man experiences this horrifying transformation in July.
Coming from Marvel Comics on July 10 is Amazing Spider-Man #53.
